But Jim Beam ensures that Devil's Cut comes from deep inside the wood
Mumbai Oct 7th 2013(Sailesh Gandhi):Celebrate Halloween this year with two new spirited expressions by Jim Beam®, The World’s Largest Selling Bourbon Whiskey – Jim Beam Devil’s Cut® and Jim Beam Jacob’s Ghost®.
The inspiration for Jim Beam Devils Cut comes from quite the opposite – ‘Angels Share’. As bourbon ages, a portion of the liquid is lost from the barrel due to evaporation—that's the "Angel's Share" After aging, when the bourbon is dumped out of the barrel, a certain amount of whiskey is left trapped within the wood of every barrel. This new variant of Jim Beam is wickedly called "Devil's Cut"
To create Jim Beam Devil's Cut, an extraordinary new bourbon experience, a proprietary process was developed that actually pulls the rich whiskey trapped inside the barrels' wood after they're emptied. This barrel-treated extract is held until it develops the proper balance of bourbon notes, then blend it with 6 year old bourbon and bottle at 90 proof. The result: a robust, premium bourbon with deep color, aroma and character. A distinctly bold bourbon with rich flavor unleashed from deep inside the barrel wood.
And if this isn’t enough for a great Halloween party, one could try another innovation from Jim Beam stable - Jacob’s Ghost.
Aptly called a white whiskey, Jacob’s Ghost is a whiskey in the real sense. Using similar processes as Jim Beam’s White Label, Jacob’s Ghost has at least one year of aging in white oak barrels with an added filtration process to remove any of the color gained from the barrel. With the initial youngness transformed by a little age, Jacob’s Ghost proves to be a capable mixer, enough to take the place of a simple vodka cocktail.
Both these expressions are currently not available in India, but given their gaining global popularity, Beam may soon look to launch these variants in India adding to their current India portfolio of Jim Beam White & Jim Beam Black labels.
