Sachin Pilot inaugurates Youth Parliament 2013

MumbaiSep 23th 2013(Sailesh Gandhi): South Mumbai MP and Union Minister for Communication, IT and Shipping Shri Milind Deora’s special initiative of the Youth Parliament 2013 was inaugurated in Mumbai today.  The Chief Guest was another young Minister Shri Sachin Pilot, Union Minister for Corporate Affairs, who evokes much enthusiasm  amongst the Youth. The main aim of Shri Milind Deora initiative is to encourage the idea of Youth participation in the process of governance .  100 Students selected from amongst 352 students of South Mumbai colleges are being exposed to the legislative process in the country and parliamentary function.

As a culmination of this initiative every year, the students will be taken to Delhi to visit Parliament during its Winter Session. The students will not only have the privilege of meeting the Speaker herself, or the Vice President, but other dignitaries as well while getting the opportunity to witness the House in Session.

In today’s social media era amidst growing disenchantment with the political fraternity amongst our youth, initiatives like this can unravel the importance of Parliament and its true stature as an institution of debate and legislation Shri Milind Deora said on the occasion.
