Mumbai Sep 13th 2013(Sailesh Gandhi):National Geographic, one of the most globally recognised publications in the world, has just selected the Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival as part of its coveted ‘Event-o-Rama: 10 Must-Dos in September’. Taking place from the 26th– 29th September 2013, the Oyster Festival was included amongst high profile world events such as; the Hermanus Whale Festival in South Africa, Tokyo Jazz Festival, Australian Garden Show Sydney and DUMBO Arts Festival in Brooklyn to name but a few!
Now in its 59th year, National Geographic highlighted the oyster shucking contest, the Tribal Oyster Feast Off (in association with The Gathering Ireland 2013), and the Mardi-Gras-style gala as the must-experience events taking place throughout the four days of culinary fun.
The Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival has also been the recipient of other impressive accolades including the Sunday Times, which listed it as “one of the 12 greatest shows on earth” and is now Ireland’s longest running food festival, along with being the longest running Oyster Festival in the world.
