Mumbai Sep 13th 2013(Sailesh Gandhi): Quickly over the years, Meru Cabs has carved itself some serious loyal following across major cities in the country. So much so, that the word 'Meru' has literally become synonym with metered AC cabs. First launched in Mumbai back in 2007, the cab service has now expanded into the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat in addition to Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Jaipur. Bollywood actress, Neha Dhupia who was earlier seen at launch of the cab service in Jaipur back in June 2013, was once again present at the launch in Ahmedabad and flagged off the first Meru Cab in the city.

Initially, the service in Ahmedabad will include a fleet of 25 cars, but the company aims to take that number to 500 in the coming months. Apart from renting services via their 24X7 call center, Meru Cabs also recently launched a mobile App, where you can book a cab instantly and without any hassles. Furthermore, an interesting feature in the mobile app is the ICE Alert, which enables you to send a distress signal to your family or friends at the touch of a button. ICE stand for 'In Case of an Emergency.'
