Mumbai Oct 7th 2013(Eddie Patel): United Nations General Assembly declared 2013 as the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation vide its Resolution A/RES/65/154. It is in recognition of this that the National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has chosen the topic “Water Cooperation: Issues and Challenges” for this year’s National Science Seminar (NSS). More than 35000 school students up to class X from across the country have deliberated on this topic at block/taluka/district and state levels and have expressed their opinion on this subject. From amongst these 35,0000 students who have participated in this event 35 students, one each from all the states and union territory of India, who have been declared as the respective state/ union territory winners, accompanied by their escorts teachers have been invited to participate at the National Science Seminar which will be held on Tuesday, 8th October, 2013 at Nehru Science Centre, a unit of National Council of Science Museums, Mumbai
National Science Seminar is a flagship and most successful and popular student’s event, organized every year by the council, since 1982, for school students across the country. This event is event is held on a rotation basis in the four zones of the country and this year the National Science Seminar 2013 will be held at Nehru Science Centre Mumbai on 8
the October 2013. The Honourable Governor of Maharashtra has kindly consented to be the chief guest at the valedictory programme which will be held at the Nehru Science Centre on 8th October, 2013 at 6.00 PM.
On this occasion they will be holding a Press Conference prior to the valedictory programme at Nehru Science Centre at 5.00 PM which will be addressed by Shri G.S. Rautela, Director General, National Council of Science Museums. The Director, Nehru Science Centre, the National Coordinator of NSS 2013 and CMDs or their representatives of Eureka Forbes Ltd and Canara Bank, the corporate supporters of the event will also be present for addressing the esteemed media. The press conference will be followed by the valedictory programme in which the results of seminar will be declared and the National Winner of NSS 2013 and nine joint second winners shall be declared who will be awarded the national scholarships.
They will be sharing the specially released NSS Souvenir with the press from which the distinguished press will realize the national importance of the event and also will have an opportunity to know the opinions of some of the past winners of the NSS who are very highly placed in the society and contributing to the nation.
